Dallas Annual Mid-Market Benefits Benchmarking Survey Results Revealed

Dallas, TX ― September 22, 2017 — Employee benefits and HR technology firm Ardent Solutions partnered with a nationally recognized third party actuarial firm to present their 15th annual Benefits Benchmarking Survey. This was one of the nation’s largest mid-market benchmarking surveys.

Ardent Solutions received 281 unique employer responses, representing 257,088 employees and roughly $2.9 billion in healthcare dollars spent. Various figures were reported, such as a 4% increase for plan design changes in the Dallas area. This median final cost increase is consistent with the national increase for 2017. Some of the key findings of the survey included:

  • 13% of Dallas-Fort Worth area employers are considering offering a HDHP plan in the future.
  • The majority of all plans in this market are fully-insured, but as the number of employees increases, so does the percentage of self-insured plans.
  • The median final cost increase—after all plan design changes—is 4% for Dallas-Fort Worth area. This is slightly lower than the national increase.

Many industry trends were highlighted during the discussion regarding the data. The current state of affairs for the human resources industry was reviewed, drawing comparisons between Dallas-area and national statistics. This provided survey participants with a gauge of how their benefits relate to others around the country.
